We assembled in the school hall at 6.45am. They took attendance and arranged us in our groups. Some of them could not make it or purposely did not come or pay up the amount of money for the camp. We soon set off for the customs. After the customs, we stopped for a pre-lunch and then we went to our destination for lunch. We went our seperate ways after lunch for our various activities (they consisted of Caving, Rafting, Trekking and Cycling).
The trip by bus to the 1st Camp Site was 11hours! Man, thats almost equivalent to the time of taking a plane trip to Kerkrade :). We had to stop now and then for toilet breaks. When we reached there, it was already 7pm. It was slightly raining. We put down our bags, carried the tents to the cave we were sleeping in and set it up. We had dinner soon after (Maggi Noodles). We went for a night walk through a nearby cave. It had lighting inside and the railings and parts of the floors had bat shit...lol. After the walk, we went back to the campsite, washed up and soon went to sleep.
The next day, half of the group went for Absailing first while the other half went for Caving. My group went for Caving first. The total distance we travelled was more than 500metres and the height we climbed was roughly 200m?(some said 500m vertical)...We had to trek through the forest and climb up rocks to reach the cave. The journey to the Cave was quite dangerous as we had no safety rope, therefore, if any of us had lost our balance and fell...that would be the end. At that point of time, I was feeling scared and yet invigorated by the thought. When we reached the cave, it was so dark that if we turned off all the torch lights, we could not see our hands even if it was right infront of us. We had to run through the cave as the Bats were flying directly above us and were doing their "business"...o.O I slipped abit and got abit of bat shit(guano) on my hands... Phew...the cave eluded a pungent smell of bat shit... I quickly got up and carried on. After climbing our way out to the exit of the cave. We had to take turns to climb down a 99 step ladder and trek our way back to the campsite through the forest again. It took a total of 4hours!
When we reached basecamp, we had lunch and soon, went for Absailing. Absailing was easier, but the wait took quite awhile. I scraped myself abit during these 2 activites. However, after completing them, it was a GREAT feeling. We had to keep the tents and move to the next campsite soon. We left there at 6pm after keeping the tents and getting out bags.
On the way there, at around 7pm, we saw some cows on our way there. We reached the restaurant which was near the campsite at around 8pm. We had our dinner and some did their "business" in the better toilets. After dinner, we set up our tents at the campsite and soon, were debriefed, washed up and went to sleep.
The next morning, before we went for breakfast, a little "show" happened. Wee Seng...irritated Zhi Wei and Zhi Wei got so pissed that he scolded F*** and even exclaimed that he wanted to go back to Singapore and that he would even prove it by walking back if he had. When the teachers tried to stop him and calm him down, he said F*** again...However, they got the situation under control and soon, both of them apologised to one another...(phew)
After breakfast, we took a boat to the nearby islands and had our trek there. We had to wait awhile to walk the treetop canopy. It was fun as we walked on the planks held together safely by ropes and ropes at the sides. Although it was abit shaky, we all made it and no one fell off...haha...though it was impossible that someone would fall off. We then trekked up and trekked down again. After the trek, we went back to the main island and had lunch. We changed into shoes suitable for the rapid shooting. We then took boats again and rode further out. It was fun as we got wet and the last part when we were coming back was hilarious as well. The back part of the boat was flooded and cockroaches in the boat were running about...hahaha...so much fun...
We soon went back to basecamp and changed our clothes or dried ourselves. Then we had some drinks at the nearby coffeeshop as the buses were late. While waiting, there was a downpour...The Buses soon came and we set off for the restaurant we were going to eat dinner at. The ride there was cold as it had just rained and it was one of those buses using windows, not aircon, so i was shivering on the way there (brr). lol....
When we reached there, we had a headcount and settled our seating for dinner. Mr Goh was scolding the rest when we had arrived. However, we did not hear what he said as the rest were inside while we were outside. After dinner, i mixed around with some of my classmates who went for the other activities. Some were red and sunburnt...yup...(those that went rafting and cycling..i guess). They gave out some prizes to some they thought did better than their expectations in the camp or stood out by leading. Soon, we filled up a survey form and left for the Train station. We waited 2 hours for the train to arrive (from 12 to 2 am). Played some cards while waiting (daidi).
The train arrived at 2am. We boarded it but we had to sort out some seats. Most of us slept on the journey back to Singapore. It stopped at the Woodlands checkpoint. It was on the afternoon of Monday. Went for lunch with some friends after we were dismissed, then went home. Was pretty tired...unpacked when i reached home, then took a bath. Then ate dinner, then used the computer...around 10, i lay on my bed...and as i was tired, i just slept there till the next day.
The next day, i woke up at 9am. Got ready then left for school for extra lessons. Yup...Tiring lol...
Well that sums up the CAMP... Tomorrow still have Band camp till Saturday Afternoon(lunch)...held in school... k, bye
