Tokyo Kosei Intermediate Clarinet Course!

I went back to school yesterday for Band practice. Started at 9am and was supposed to end at 5pm. We first warmed up then we had combined all the way with Miss Tan from 10+ until 11.30 when we went out to have lunch. Came back at 12.20pm and went Primary School Music Room to watch a video on " American Elergy ". It made us understand what the composer wanted to express through the piece after watching and it was about one hour.

Mr Heng then took the Clarinet section while Mr They took the Trumpets and Miss Tan took the rest. By then, I had to leave with Michael, DongLum and Ingmar to go Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) for the course.

Reached there at around 2.20pm, showned the place where we would be having our respective courses for each instrument and waited for the Teacher. We waited until 3+ then he came. We were taught by Tokyo Kosei's Principal Player "Hitoshi Sekiguci". He was playing the clarinet so effortlessly...even when it was running notes...(then again...he has been the Principal Player for so many years...he even has his own cd! haha)

It was mostly basics...and the daily training were things I have heard before from seniors...but it's good to go back to basics.

1) Long Tone--> Yup...long tone may be boring but it helps to shape the tone

2) Register Key exercises--> Relaxed embouchure and nice tone for the higher notes

3) Scales--> There are 12 scales and each one are important

Took the MRT to church after the course. It ended around 6+. Took the East-West line to City Hall then changed train to Orchard. Reached there around 7.20pm. Enjoyed the music they were rehearsing for Saturday's Youth Service. After that, went with Ziyao and Patrick to meet Wan Er , Elysia and YuPo for dinner. At first, they wanted to go Cineleisure to eat, however it was raining quite heavily so we decided to eat opposite Cine instead at Burger King.

Went back home via MRT again...While walking home, helped some guy exit the screen of messaging so that he could call. When I reached home, it was nearly 11 already.
Thats all for today...bye
